We Forgot What the Skipping Rope Was For In Boxing
People who don’t really know boxing think the rope’s just for conditioning.
That’s only a small piece of it.
The real reason? It’s about loosening up, finding your rhythm, getting your body mechanics right.
When a guy first steps in the gym, he can’t even go 30 seconds without clipping the rope. All stiff, outta sync, no coordination, looking wild.
That’s what the rope shows you… and that’s what it fixes.
Old School Boxing - How it was actually used
Look at Sugar Ray Robinson on the rope whole body moving, loose, smooth like he’s dancing. Ain’t no tension, ain’t no forcing it. That’s how you’re supposed to warm up.
